Leonardo Capalbo returns to the Gran Teatre del Liceu as Don José

In the 2019-2020 season, Leonardo Capalbo returns to the Gran Teatre del Liceu as Don José in Carmen, one of his most acclaimed roles, in the iconic production by Calixto Bieito. As Don José, Classical Source hailed Capalbo’s “towering performance” and Backtrack noted his “lithe, handsome, borderline dramatic tenor.” Capalbo debuted at the Liceu in 2014 as Alfredo in David McVicar’s production of La traviata. He has previously sung Don José at Polish National Opera, Greek National Opera, Palm Beach Opera, The Grange Festival and the Royal Symphonic Orchestra of Seville.
