Leonardo Capalbo stars as Don Carlo in the season-opening production of Verdi’s Don Carlo at Grange Park Opera beginning June 6th. This marks Capalbo’s role debut as well as his house debut.

Capalbo’s debut as Don Carlo is the first in a string of role debuts in the coming months. On July 11 Capalbo debuts Pollione in Norma at Opera Stuttgart. In September he debuts Don Carlos in the 5-Act French version at Opera Vlaanderen. In May 2020 he sings Osaka in Mascagni’s Iris at the Teatro Real Madrid.

Leonardo Capalbo is well-known to audiences in the UK from performances as the title character in Les contes d’Hoffmann at the Royal Opera House, the title character in Candide with the London Symphony Orchestra, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore at Glyndebourne, the title character in Roberto Devereux at Welsh National Opera, and other appearances at Opera North, The Grange Festival, Opera Holland Park, and Dorset Opera.

Directed by Jo Davies and conducted by Gianluca Marcianò, Grange Park Opera’s Don Carlo also stars Marina Costa-Jackson as Elisabetta, Ruxandra Donose as Eboli, Brett Polegato as Rodrigo, and Clive Bayley as Filippo. Performances run June 6th to July 9th at the Theatre in the Woods at West Horsley Place.
