In the 2019-2020 season Leonardo Capalbo makes his Komische Oper Berlin debut as the Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s Rigoletto in the production by famed director Barrie Kosky, conducted by General Music Director Ainārs Rubiķis. As a prominent interpreter of the hallmark Verdian tenor roles, Capalbo is widely praised as the Duke. In December 2018 Seen and Heard wrote “Leonardo Capalbo is the personification of the Duke: handsome, sensitive, elegant and dashing but also temperamental and cynically complacent – and he sings like a god with beautiful tone, exquisite nuances, tossing off his top notes with brilliance and glow. ‘La donna è mobile’ is sung with seductive rubati and becoming nonchalance.”

Performances of Rigoletto run February 7, 16, 27, March 13 & 22, 2020
